What “professional surveyor” usually means

Most jurisdictions require a combination of an accredited degree or equivalent coursework, years of supervised experience, and passing scores on standardized exams (e.g., FS/PS in the NCEES system where adopted). Some states add state-specific exams or additional coursework.

Search for your state board of professional surveyors or board of licensure. NCEES publishes exam information and maintains records for many candidates—but the board sets the rules.
